I don't own this webtoon at all. All rights for the images go to the author but the belong to me. YES! I finally finished it. You can't imagine the countless struggles I went thru with this. I think my computer restarted itself at least 3 times while I was working on this, which means I had to re-do it every time, haa~
I´ll publish the english translation of mangas I like to read that I can´t find in english. I won't be taking requests, else there won't be an end. I also don't have a release schedule I'm not a group and I ask you not to pressure me too much, I do it because I want to. I know I´m slow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Wow.. I remember when I first read this flashback (when Jung told Sul), I thought it was just one big misunderstanding and that maybe Inha was the snitch... now, I'm thinking 'did inho betray Jung. Maybe Jung is right. Maybe inho was never really his friend'.
ReplyDeletebaek inho juz had a big mouth and LOL poor Jung, so hard to talk honest with that guy
ReplyDeleteAgree. No ill intentions. Just a big mouth.
DeleteThank you for the translation! I loved this chapter now I understand more the misunderstanding between these two, as I thought Jung was being sincere to them and Inho too was happy to be Jung's friend but everything was twisted by Jung's father because he is great at manipulating others so he manipulated Inho in order to get some informations about Jung's daily life at school by simply talking with him. Inho who was happy to have a family didn't notice the danger of the chairman and talked to him innocently about everything. What's more horrible here is that a true friendship got shattered because of the crazy chairman.
ReplyDeleteI agree but I've always felt that a big part of the fault also goes to Inho's grandpa, Jung's dad was never worried about his son's mental health until Inho's grandpa convinced him that there was something wrong with Jung. And the worst part is that the Prof. never actually did anything to help Jung, Prof just basically told Jung's dad "your son has a victim mentality, why don't you get him a dog or a sibling and see if that helps" there's so many kinds of wrong with that and it's especially wrong coming from a professional on the field.
Delete^This. I find the Baek Grandpa to be at bigger fault here too. Maybe that Grandpa is the most manipulative effer in this series. I recall a chapter where Jung's mom expressed her dislike for that geezer. Did he set up everything to make sure that the Baek siblings will have somewhere to go to when he dies? We may never know, but it's a suspicion I can't seem to disregard.
DeleteSorry I am commenting only now. Backreading the comments after I've read everything (too excited to pause and read other comments when lots of chapters remained undevoured hehe).

poor Minho was played by the father. their friendship is destroyed by a mere misunderstanding. Moreover I really feel sorry for the beak siblings. they've been dragged into this twisted family and had their life destroyed.
ReplyDeleteNow, wait a second. The Baeks did NOT have their lives "destroyed" by Jung's family. In that case I could say that Jung got his family destroyed by them not the other way around, as Jung's parents used to fight all the time because Jung's dad insistence on taking care of the siblings, which ultimately resulted in her not being around much for Jung.
DeleteThe Baeks had a shitty life even before Jung's dad decided to take them, their parents and grand-dad when they were young and their aunt physically abused them causing Inha to get as twisted as she is now. And yeah Inho got his hand broken, but it's still very debatable whether Jung had any involvement in that and his hand was very easy to fix if he had chosen to get physical therapy as anyone with half a brain would have chosen, instead he chose to abandon everything and wander around the country doing manual labor instead of developing a career (for 7 years).
Since they were little Jung's dad has been giving them lots of money, Inha was still being supported until just recently (and she's hitting her 30's mind you) Jung's dad had no obligation of supporting them, not saying that Jung's dad didn't sort of screw them by using them (he even screwed his own son) but he did a lot for them too he gave them a change in life to both of them and the both of them wasted it miserably.
point taken. The beaks are not saints.
DeleteBut what I was trying to say is that their lives have been affected much more than Jung's. Inha turning into a spoiled brat and Inho losing his purpose. Jung was born into that sh** he was doomed to affected one way or another.
I see what you are saying, but at the same time their life circumstances guarantee them to have messed up lives.
DeleteI mean, Can you honestly say that with the lives they had before Jung's dad took them, would have turned out any better? agree Inha wouldn't be a spoiled brat because she wouldn't have grown up with Jung's family money, But how would she have grown? You think she would have been a better person that she is now? her personality was always bad, they had no money at all and she was belittled and beaten by her aunt at every opportunity she got, she may have even gotten killed by her aunt. And you're right Inho may have became a famous pianist by himself but he was in a much better situation living under Jung's dad care. In fact if he hadn't made that mistake about calling Jung's dad like his he would have graduated and gone to University. I'm not blaming him, that was an accident but it's still the truth.
I have nothing against Inho (Inha I hate) and yeah they are not saints, it really is not true that Jung's family screwed them up more than they would have gotten by living by themselves. They were just that unlucky.
And yeah Jung was fxx by his dad, but that's actually in big part Inho's Grandpa's fault he was the one who actually went and convinced Jung's dad that there was something wrong with his kid, dad never noticed anything until then, he even thought Jung was perfect, which is not good either, but it would have been much better emotionally for Jung to grow up with the way his dad though before hurricane Prof. Baek came along.
You are definitely entitled to your opinion but let's be fair.
Ok I'm probably abit rusty on the older chapters you brought my attention to other stuff. your point again taken. But the beaks are not to be blamed on everything, like you said they're just that unlucky in life. Its more like they made bad choices.
DeleteThis is the fascinating part about this webtoon. there is no good or evil characters.
Anyways thank you for taking the time to translate <3
Yeah, no I agree the Baek's are not to be blamed for everything that went wrong. Jung himself said it, they were just a couple of kids being manipulated by his dad.
DeleteInho was especially naive and unaware so the things he did were not with bad intentions. But Inha did willingly threw Jung under the bus with his dad, so she has more responsibility over what went wrong and if she really had no choice but to report to the dad she could have omitted the bad parts if she had really been Jung's friend.
For me this webtoon perfectly illustrates the saying that goes "There are three sides to every story: your side, my side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each differently."
ooh one more thing.. Jung seriously gives me the creeps. first season all over again!
ReplyDeleteIs it the smile? The smile that bothers Inho so much? Remember, that's Jung's defense, taught to him by that jerk father of his. So whenever he's uncomfortable or puzzled by others' behavior, and fckups, he smiles. Nothing evil or creepy about that. And who wouldn't smile when you see your abuser get some back. As I say, in the last chapter, I was miffed at Jung for not hearing Inho out before he came back at him, but I can also understand. Both are carrying so much heavy baggage, all laid on them by the father.
DeleteHonestly, the Baeks have been too privileged through association with Jung's family. His dad have sponsored other kids but not to the extent as he did the Baek siblings. One chapter discussed how Jung felt that his family has done a lot for Inho and Inha but they have not thanked them or felt grateful to them and instead blamed Jung for all the choices they have made in their life. It's all a twisted way of thinking that they are the victims here. Their grandfather especially, made sure that his grandkids future is secured by suggesting to Jung's father to give Jung sibling-like companions to watch over him. And this all stemmed from Jung's dad's paranoia that Jung will have anger issue like him.
ReplyDeleteWhat a big misunderstanding. I bet they all got played nicely by Jung's father. And maybe Inho's grandfather too.
ReplyDeleteThank you again for the translation, Niiik. Awesome as ever.

Ok what i've understand about their history so far:
ReplyDeleteBaeks grandfather did a really bad thing about telling his thoughts about Chairman's son's personallity in such vague form. "uh ya son has some victim mentallity why don't ya get this weirdo a dog lmao don't ya wan't a new son? 'cause this one needs a sibling huh just keep on watching him coz he can kill his own brother k lol" --note:yes i think of him being this jerk-- Especially when it's clearly Jung's father fault that didn't he act like himself since he was a kid and controlling him all over. ( honestly i can relate so much with Jung because i see myself in the same situation... my mom's desire to make me a perfect kid and wanting to controll me is just... Now she regrets all she did)
Baeks were played/used by the chairman (the second scariest person on this webtoon, first is Chopin). Jung knew it all the time, since the begining. But when he was starting to develop genuine feelings for baeks siblings, Baek Inho big mouth just ruined it, not intentionally (I think) in a lot of ways. They were too much trouble to a person that is so instable like Jung to handle. Be the way, Jung OBVIOUSLY isn't a saint either ( and we all know that) but, maybe because I relate so much with him, i can understand his side. Althoght I think he did overreact? i mean... Baek siblings life weren't the best too. Ah.... Life is so troublesome. Misunderstanings all over the way. They are just too tired. Too ill. Even if this still hurts their hurts, they have to treat this without seeing just their sides, you know, be a little less egoist and put an end in this all.
By the way i'm not a native english speaker so my text must have more mistakes than their relationship lol i tried to be funny here
Your English is very good--better than a lot of native speakers. :) :)
DeleteSometimes I wonder what would of happened if the chairman after listening to prof baeks advise got Jung a dog instead of taking in two kids to act as siblings....
